The 21-year-old midfielder is on loan at Sheffield and due to competition rules is ineligible to play against his parent club after Man City and Sheffield were drawn against each other in the next round. It means Doyle will be a spectator for the match at Wembley, when Premier League champions City will be favorites to advance to the final. Doyle struck in the first minute of second-half stoppage time as Sheffield beat Blackburn Rovers 3-2 in a thrilling quarterfinal clash between the two second-tier sides. Blackburn had twice taken the lead through Ben Brereton and Sammie Szmodics. Sam Gallagher’s own-goal and Oliver McBurnie evened the score on each occasion before Doyle’s late winner. ROME (AP) — Rescue teams were searching Sunday for two skiers who were caught in an avalanche near Mont Blanc on Italy’s northern border with France, local authorities said. Two surviving off-piste skiers sounded the alarm shortly after the 1 p.m. avalanche on Val Veny, above Courmayeur, but low-lying clouds prevented helicopters from reaching the scene, Courmayeur Mayor Roberto Rota told Sky TG24.Rescuers were getting to the site by snowmobile, but Rota said the chances of finding the skiers alive was slim given the amount of time that had passed.Rota suggested the four skiers were amateurs who hadn’t gone up with a guide or proper avalanche safety equipment, though he added that avalanche airbags would have only been useful if rescuers were nearby and had gotten to the scene within the first 15-20 minutes.“Unfortunately, it’s 99% that those involved won’t make it,” he said. The avalanche risk Sunday for the area was a level-three “considerable” danger on a scale of five risk levels ...

Here’s why retirement age matters for Social Security and Medicare

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 10:53:18 GMT

(CNN) — 62, 65, 67, 70.All these ages are important when it comes to Social Security and Medicare. And these ages are also targets in the contentious debate over how to shore up the shaky finances of the massive entitlement programs.Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley recently zeroed in on raising the retirement age for Americans in their 20s as a way to reform Social Security, saying it should match their life expectancy. The controversial position was echoed by GOP Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina on CNN’s “State of the Union” last Sunday. Neither said what the new retirement age should be.Many folks may think that people can start collecting their full Social Security benefits at age 65, which was the retirement age for decades. But Congress changed that as part of its 1983 overhaul of the entitlement program.Lawmakers gradually increased the full retirement age — the first to be affected were people who turned 65 in 200...
