Kurtenbach: The Warriors’ ‘dress rehearsal’ showed the same problems that plagued last season’s team

The Warriors wanted Wednesday’s preseason game against the Kings to be a dress rehearsal for the fast-approaching regular-season.All it showed was that this team might need more practice time. The Warriors coaches have prioritized two areas for improvement this preseason: limiting turnovers and defending without fouling.Against the Kings, the Warriors were unable to do either. The Warriors turned the ball over 22 times against the Kings, leading to 22 Sacramento points Wednesday. And after a solid first half, the Warriors also put the Kings on the free-throw line 22 times in the second half — a huge component of Sacramento’s 18-point late-third-quarter lead. It’s inauspicious stuff from the Dubs, to say the least.Related ArticlesGolden State Warriors | Lacob expects ‘tremendous ovation’ from Warriors fans upon Durant return Golden State Warriors | Steph Curry hits game-winning 3 in Warriors’ preseason win over Kings Gol...Communities struggle with disposing disposable e-cigarettes

By Matthew Perrone | Associated PressWASHINGTON — With the growing popularity of disposable e-cigarettes, communities across the U.S. are confronting a new vaping problem: how to safely get rid of millions of small, battery-powered devices that are considered hazardous waste. For years, the debate surrounding vaping largely centered on its risks for high school and middle school students enticed by flavors like gummy bear, lemonade and watermelon. But the recent shift toward e-cigarettes that can’t be refilled has created a new environmental dilemma. The devices, which contain nicotine, lithium and other metals, cannot be reused or recycled. Under federal environmental law, they also aren’t supposed to go in the trash.U.S. teens and adults are buying roughly 12 million disposable vapes per month. With little federal guidance, local officials are finding their own ways to dispose of e-cigarettes collected from schools, colleges, vape shops and other sites.“We are in a...Months after 2 killed in shooting-stabbing in Fairfax, family’s au pair charged with murder in 1 of the slayings

Hundreds of demonstrators from Jewish advocacy groups, including Jewish Voice for Peace and If Not Now, poured into a congressional office building on Wednesday. They wore shirts that read “Jews say cease fire now” and they chanted “let Gaza live” and “not in my name” before they were detained by Capitol Police. Demonstrations are not allowed inside Capitol buildings, and police said they warned the crowd gathered in the rotunda of the Cannon House Office Building to stop before they began making the arrests. The 305 people arrested for illegally demonstrating were subsequently released and those charged with assault were held in custody pending an appearance before a judge. Then you try to breathe it in as much as possible because you realize how unique it is to be able to come back on the road. It is significant. It’s one of those things that you’ll remember it your entire life.”But the Cardinal (2-4, 1-3 Pac-12) know they can’t bask in the glow of that victory for long with another tough test upcoming in the loaded Pac-12 with a visit from No. 25 UCLA (4-2, 1-2) on Saturday nig...Latest news
